Connection measurement

This endpoint records technical parameters of the network connection used to reach it, so that different client software can be told apart by how it connects. No cookies are set and no browser storage is used.

What is recorded from every visit

• Properties of the encrypted connection and of the first request: which options your software offered, in what order, and how it encoded them.
• A one-way hash of your network address, salted with a key that changes daily, so hashes from different days cannot be linked.
• The network operator and country your address belongs to.

What is never recorded

• Your network address itself.
• The address of any page you asked for, or of the page you came from.
• The contents of any header, including cookies.

Optional: tell us what you are

With your agreement, this page can additionally ask your browser what it says it is, and send that back. It is useful because comparing what software claims to be against how it behaves is the whole question this measurement exists to answer.

The script that does this is not part of this page. It is sent only if you agree, and it runs once. Values are made deliberately coarse before anything is stored: your languages become a single language tag, your time zone becomes an offset, and your screen size becomes a broad size range.
